Report of 2010 USGTF China Teachers’ Cup Tournament on June 1
We are delighted to report the exciting event that we have conducted recently in Shanghai, China.
On June 1, 2010, USGTF-China has conducted its first China Teachers’ Cup Tournament at Tianma Golf and Country Club in Shanghai. A total of 48 members and guests have enrolled with some 40 players show up. The others have sent their regret due to sudden unexpected engagements.
The event was conducted smoothly with all members and guests checked in on time, lunch, photo taking and tee off. Gentlemen were playing from the gold tee (the very last tee box on course) of over 7200 yards in total and Ladies teed off from white tee of over 6000 yards. The distance had made the tournament very challenging to all the players. The weather was super with temperature of mid 20C and mild breeze. It’s a great day for golf. All players enjoyed the competition and have fun. Scoring results were encouraging even though some of the players had never played from the farthest tee box before.
The final results were:-
Champion – Mr Gary Yu
1st Runner up – Mr Eric Xie
2nd Runner up – Mr Pan Xiao Li
Champion – Miss Amy Hou
1st Runner up – Miss Shen
2nd Runner up – Miss Jenny Lu
All winners had generously donated 30% of their cash prizes as charity to Red Cross for “Qinhai Yushu” earthquate which together with the donations from individuals participating a Par-3 “Hole-in-One” Charity Context and the cash prize money for the hole (no lucky winner), we had donated a sum of RMB20,000 to Red Cross. On behalf of Red Cross, we have to thank you all for your contributions.
The event was encouraging. USGTF-China have decided to hold a tournament at least once a year from now onwards. We look forward to seeing you all again next year. We wish you all good luck, good health, and stay in shape.
